Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky today announced the signing of free agents Sasha Goodlett and Sequoia Holmes to training camp contracts. Per team policy, contract terms were not disclosed.

The Indiana Fever drafted Goodlett with the 11th overall pick in the 2012 WNBA Draft. In her rookie campaign, the 6-foot-5 center appeared in 26 games for the Fever averaging 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. In 2013, Goodlett appeared in 25 games for the Indiana Fever and delivered a career-high 5 offensive rebounds in a game against Connecticut. In her first two seasons, the 239-pound Goodlett added valuable depth to Indiana's frontcourt. She also has experience playing in China, France and South Korea.

Goodlett graduated from Georgia Tech in 2012 where she finished her career ranked 10th in points scored (1,364), 9th in rebounds (760) and 5th in blocked shots (127). Goodlett set the all-time school record for most games played in career with 133. During her final season as a Yellow Jacket, she earned All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Tournament First Team honors. Goodlett became just the second Georgia Tech player ever selected in the first round of the WNBA Draft following Alex Montgomery.

Sequoia Holmes, a 6-foot-1 guard/forward who graduated from UNLV, first entered the WNBA in 2008 when she joined the Houston Comets as an undrafted free agent. Holmes played 17 games with Houston averaging 3.1 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game. In 2010, she appeared in 15 games with the Phoenix Mercury.

While playing for German Wasserburg, Holmes averaged 17.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The versatile guard/forward helped her team win the 2011 German Championship Title. For her standout performance, Eurobasket.com awarded her Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, Import Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. The following year, Holmes competed in Slovakia as part of MBK Ruzomberok. She was a 2013 Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup Honorable Mention and was named to the Slovakian Extraliga All-Imports team.

Most recently, Holmes has spent time playing in the Italian league with C.U.S. Chieti where she averaged 19.4 points per game and boasted a 15.6 player efficiency rating. Holmes' quickness and leaping ability makes her a very dangerous player on both ends of the floor. At UNLV she led the Mountain West Conference in scoring with 18.3 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game. She was named to the All-Conference team three times and finished her prolific career at UNLV with 1,485 points.

Goodlett and Holmes will join the Chicago Sky when training camp opens on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
