Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Zack Granite has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to April 7 and OF Jason Kanzler joins the Kernels from Extended Spring Training. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins selected Kanzler in the 20th round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Buffalo. He played in 44 games with the GCL Twins last season, batting .220 with six triples, three HR, 15 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts.
Granite goes on the DL with a left rotator cuff strain. In four games for the Kernels, he is batting .313 (5-16) with an RBI.
Kanzler will join the Kernels today in Midland, MI and be available for tonight's 5:05 pm game with Great Lakes. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players with one player currently on the DL.
The Kernels continue a six game road trip tonight at 5:05 pm in Midland, MI against the Great Lakes Loons. They return home to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, April 12 to open a six game home stand with games against South Bend and West Michigan.
