Outlaws Add Additional Players from Open Tryouts

April 9, 2014 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Denver Outlaws News Release

DENVER - The Outlaws signed two more players to the roster from the club's open tryouts held on Sunday, March 30, bringing the total to four players added from the tryout session. Last week, the team signed midfielder Noah Molnar and faceoff specialist Nick Maggio.

Midfielders Nic Bevacqua and Sam Spallitta were both added to the team's roster from the MLL player pool after their performances at the club's tryouts. The open tryout was the first in club history and was a part of the Outlaws Academy.

"Both Nic and Sam drew our interest in our recent tryout camp in Denver," Outlaws General Manager Tony Seaman said. "We were impressed with their athletic ability as well as their ability to shoot the ball. Both deserve the opportunity to come into our first training camp and compete for a roster spot."

Bevacqua earned All-America honors at Stevenson University. He currently works as a volunteer assistant coach at Colorado College.

Spallitta played MCLA lacrosse at Lindenwood University, totaling 105 goals with 28 assists for 133 points in 52 career games. He is a co-director at True Lacrosse .

In other recent roster transactions, the Outlaws waived midfielder Landon Carr and attackman Jeremy Boltus. Denver also claimed midfielder Dylan Sheridan from the league player pool.

Sheridan was a three-time MCLA All-American at Claremont McKenna College. A four-time WCLL first-team selection, Sheridan was named the 2006 West Coast Lacrosse League Player of the Year. He spent time on the Outlaws' roster last season. Sheridan is currently an assistant coach at the University of Denver.
