Buffalo Sabres Recall Mark Pysyk, Andrey Makarov

(Rochester, NY)... The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled defenseman Mark Pysyk and goaltender Andrey Makarov (mah-KAHR-rahv) from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis. The team also announced it has assigned forward Luke Adam to Rochester.

Pysyk (1 /11 /92, 6'1 ", 193 lbs) joins the Sabres for his second recall of the year and third stint in Buffalo this season after beginning the 2013-14 season with the team . He has appeared in 42 games with the Sabres this season, recording six points (1+5). While playing with the Amerks in 2013-14, Pysyk has notched 12 points (1+11) through 27 games played.

Since being drafted by the Sabres in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, he has played in 61 career NHL games over two seasons, tallying 11 points (2+9).

Makarov (4 /20 /93, 6'1 ", 180 lbs) joins the Sabres for his first career NHL recall after being signed by Buffalo as an undrafted free agent in 2012 . Since being recalled by the Amerks from the ECHL on March 17, Makarov has appeared in six games for Rochester, posting a 3-3-0 record and registering a 2.70 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.

Prior to joining the Amerks, Makarov played in 31 games with the Fort Wayne Komets (ECHL) this year, posting a record of 15-11-2-2 with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in his first season of professional hockey. Last season, he played in 61 games with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League (WHL), posting a record of 37-17-2-3 with a 2.62 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and seven shutouts, and was named the Outstanding Goaltender for the 2013 Memorial Cup. In 115 career WHL games with Saskatoon, the Kazan, Russia native went 66-38-3-4 with a 2.80 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and nine shutouts.
