Energy Clinch Fourth Division Title in Seven Years with Win over Los Angeles

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Energy clinched their fourth Central Division title in seven years and broke a franchise record for most points in a single game with a 148-128 victory over the L.A. D-Fenders on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Western Division champion Los Angeles D-Fenders started hot, hitting seven three's in the first quarter. They pushed their lead to as many as 13 before Iowa cut it to 43-35 heading into the second. C.J. Williams had 10 of his 14 points in the quarter.

They Energy dominated the D-Fenders in the second quarter, outscoring them 44-25 behind strong bench play from Austin Freeman, who scored 11 of his 18 points in the second. Josh Boone also had 10 of his 14 points in the quarter and helped Iowa take a 79-68 lead into the half.

L.A. came out strong in the second quarter. Shawne Williams had 10 of his team high 20 points in the third. The Energy led 109-103 heading into the final quarter.

Iowa held their lead through the final quarter behind Larry Owens, who had 16 of his game high 24 point down the stretch. Iowa went on to win 148-128 to improve to 31-19 on the year and clinch the Central Division title. The D-Fenders fell to 31-19 on the year. Iowa's bench outscored the D-Fender's bench 68-37.
