Petes Add Depth in Middle and Late Rounds

(Peterborough, ON, April 5th, 2014)- The Peterborough Petes are excited to announce their remaining picks in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection presented by State Farm and presented locally by SummerSkates. With the 112th overall selection in the sixth round, the Petes picked D Jake Walman, followed by Griffin Roubos with the 149th pick, Ian McKinnon with the 169th pick, and RW Bobby Dow with the 189th pick. Peyton Reeves, local Dayton Kent, Billy Day, Nicholas Favaro, and Connor Hill rounded out the selections.

Jake Walman is a 1996-born defenceman who is currently committed to the NCAA's Providence College. He is projected my many to be a second round draft pick at the 2014 NHL Draft. The 6'1" 174 lbs Walman played 43 games with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the OJHL last season, registering 7 goals, 26 assists, 33 points, and 87 penalty minutes.

Griffin Roubos was selected in the eighth round. Roubus scored 3 goals and 14 assists in 36 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs. He "is a smooth-skating, well-rounded defenseman," said Petes Director of Scouting Chris McNamara.

Ian McKinnon, brother of current Petes forward Rylee McKinnon, was selected in the ninth round. The 5'11", 169 lbs centre from the Whitby Wildcats picked up 11 points in 17 games during his draft year. Bobby Dow was the last Peterborough pick before the break after the tenth round. Dow is "a big winer that plays a very physical, in-your-face game," noted Petes Ottawa and Eastern Ontario Regional Scout Dave Gawe. Dow notched 32 points and 54 penalty minutes in 29 games with the Ottawa Senators Minor Midget AAA.

When they returned from the break, the Petes selected five more players in the 11th through 15th rounds. Peyton Reeves, a 6'0" left winger from the Mississauga Reps, was chosen in the eleventh round. In the twelfth round, the Petes selected centre Dayton Kent, a 6'0", 158 lbs Peterborough native who scored 27 points for the Minor Midget AAA Petes this season. Kent played a key role en route to the AAA Petes' 0-1-3 record at the 2014 OHL Cup.

To round out the priority selection, Peterborough picked goalie Billy Day from the Brampton 45s in the 13th round, Nicholas Favaro from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens in the 14th round, and Connor Hill from the London Jr. Knights in the 15th round.
