Barrie Colts News Release

Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts are proud to announce today that they have selected left winger Givani Smith in the first round, 13th overall in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection, presented by State Farm.

The Toronto, Ontario native registered 9 goals, 8 assists for 17 points in 26 games played while tallying 71 penalty minutes this season with the Mississauga Senators.

"Givani is a power-forward that plays the game with a lot of passion and tenacity. He established himself this season in the GTHL as one of the more difficult players to play against. He combines size and competitiveness with very good skill and hockey sense," said Colts General Manager Jason Ford.

The 6'1", 192lbs left-winger is the younger brother of London Knights forward Gemel Smith.

"Givani is a character kid that works hard at his game, and we are excited to have selected him," added Ford.
