Monarchs Ink Three to Tryouts

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, signed center Nic Dowd, forward Michael Mersch, and defenseman Kevin Gravel to amateur tryout agreements, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced on Friday.
Dowd, 23, is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award after collecting 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points and 32 penalty minutes in 38 games for St. Cloud State University. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound native of Huntsville, Alabama recorded 121 points (52-69121) and 143 penalty minutes in 155 games with St. Cloud State from 2010-14. Dowd was selected by the Kings in the seventh round (198th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Mersch, 21, recently completed his senior season at the University of Wisconsin, recording 35 points (22-1335) and 18 penalty minutes in 37 games. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound native of Park Ridge, Illinois registered 120 points (67-53120) and 109 penalty minutes in 157 games from 2010-14. Mersch was selected by the Kings in the fourth round (110th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Gravel, 22, completed his senior season at St. Cloud State, collecting 23 points (10-1323) and two penalty minutes in 38 games. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound native of Kingsford, Michigan recorded 49 points (13-3649) and 43 penalty minutes in 153 games at St. Cloud State from 2010-14. Gravel was selected by the Kings in the fifth round (148th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
