Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers begin the 2014 Ray Miron President's Cup Playoffs tonight at 7:35 p.m. at the BOK Center in Game 1 of their best-of-seven series against the Denver Cutthroats. The 2014 Tulsa Oilers playoffs are presented by Call Okie 811. April is "Safe Digging Month" in Oklahoma and Call Okie 811 is encouraging all Oklahomans to stay safe by calling Okie before any digging projects.

It has been 1,076 days since the last playoff hockey game in Tulsa and the Oilers are celebrating tonight with a K12 Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy Block Party from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in front of the BOK Center. Admission to the Block Party is free for Oilers fans of all ages and will feature live music from 92.9 BOB-FM, a mobile gaming truck, face-painting for the kids, as well as affordable snacks and beverages.

Prior to the start of the game, the Oilers are pleased to have local country duo, Alaska and Madi, perform the National Anthem. The Tulsa teens were stars on Season 6 of The Voice on NBC and were part of Blake Shelton's team on the hit singing show. Alaska and Madi will meet with fans and sign autographs in the Grand Lobby during the first intermission.

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett will signal the official start of the Oilers playoff run by dropping the ceremonial puck at center ice. Bartlett is serving his second term as Tulsa Mayor and the Oilers are extremely appreciative of his participation in this important moment for the franchise and the city.

The Oilers finished with a regular season record of 34-29-3 and are seeded seventh in the CHL Playoffs. Tulsa faced the second-seeded Cutthroats six times during the regular season and went 1-4-1 against Denver including a 1-1-0 mark on home ice. The Oilers are the only team in the league to boast three 30-plus goal scorers in Ben Gordon, Adam Pleskach, and Michel Beausoleil while the Cutthroats top line features CHL MVP Garett Bembridge and CHL assist leader Troy Schwab.

Tickets for Game 1 and Game 2 are available now by calling the Oilers office at 918-632-7825 or by logging on to www.tulsaoilers.com.
