MUSKEGON, Michigan (April 3rd) - The L.C. Walker Arena is pleased to announce a brand new Leadership Lunch Series that will kick off on Tuesday, May 6th at 11:30 am and will bring in notable former United States Army Ranger, speaker, author, and country songwriter Keni Thomas to share key lessons on leadership and rising to the challenge when adversity comes your way while encouraging people to "Get It On" in the game of life.

A graduate from the University of Florida, Keni Thomas enlisted into the United States Army and served as a Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment in 1991 eventually leading to a promotion of Staff Sergeant. In the summer of 1993, Thomas took part in the elite special operations package called "Task Force Ranger" after being deployed to Mogadishu, Somalia with the 3rd Ranger Battalion that resulted in 18-hour fire-fight in an attempt to capture criminal warlord Mohammed Farrah Aideed on October 3rd, 1993. In the end, 19 Americans perished and 78 others were wounded in the worst urban combat seen by U.S. troops since World War II. Later, the combat would be portrayed in the highly regarded book and movie Black Hawk Down.

After his service in the Armed Forces, Thomas pursued a country music career and is now an award-winning recording artist and songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee along with his band, Cornbread. They can be heard on numerous stations nationwide and were also featured in the movie Sweet Home Alabama.

Additionally, Thomas appears on many major news networks as a military analyst and made an appearance in the Mel Gibson movie We Were Soldiers. Thomas is also the national spokesperson for the Hero Fund and Special Operations Warrior Foundation which provides college educations to the children of the special operations personnel killed in combat or training while being the recipient of the American Patriot Award and bronze star for valor.
