Bowey Signs NHL Deal as Rockets Set for 2nd Round

April 2, 2014 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release

After a record-setting year with the Kelowna Rockets, defenseman Madison Bowey signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

The contract begins with the 2014-15 season.

Bowey, 18, was chosen by the Capitals in the second round (No. 53) of the 2013 NHL Draft and has been with the Rockets for the past three seasons. Bowey had 21 goals and 60 points in 72 games this season while serving his fist year as captain. He has three points in five WHL playoff games this year.

Bowey's 21 goals in the regular season set a single season record for Rockets blueliners, eclipsing the previous mark of 19 set by Tyson Barrie in the 2009-10 season. He finished 4th in Rockets scoring with 60 points and was plus-44 on the blueline.

The Rockets open the second round of the WHL playoffs on Thursday at home against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Tickets are available for game one as well as Saturday's game two at Prospera Place through www.selectyourtickets.com, at the box office or 250-762-5050 .
