Murphy Leads Stampede to 119-110 Win in Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa, April 2, 2014 - Kevin Murphy scored 38 points to help the Idaho Stampede defeat the Iowa Energy 119-110 Wednesday night. Murphy continues to lead the league in scoring with 25.0 points per game.

Iowa took a 35-32 lead after the first quarter as both teams came out shooting at high percentages. The Energy increased their lead to 12 points in the second quarter before the Stampede made a run to bring their deficit down to one at the half. Murphy led all scorers with 18 points in the first half but the Stampede trailed 63-62.

Murphy poured in another 18 points in the third period alone to help Idaho grab their biggest lead of the game (18 points). The Stampede outscored the Energy 32-16 in the quarter and never looked back. Iowa guard Moses Ehambe scored 10 points in the final quarter but the Stampede knocked down free-throws at the end to seal the 119-110 victory.

Kevin Murphy's 38-point outburst was his 12th game with 30 or more points. All five starters scored in double-figures for Idaho. Derrick Caracter posted 20 points and 10 rebounds while Reggie Hearn recorded his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Scott Machado (13 points, 12 assists) and Dee Bost (14 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists) also filled up the stat sheet.

The win snaps Idaho's five game losing streak and puts them at 24-24 for the season.

Moses Ehambe led Iowa with 29 points off the bench, including seven 3-pointers. Veteran Curtis Stinson paced the offense with 12 points and 11 assists. Glen Rice Jr. added 10 points on assignment from the Washington Wizards.

The Stampede (24-24) travel to Rio Grande Valley on April 4 while the Energy (29-19) host the Maine Red Claws.
