Mississippi RiverKings News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Mississippi RiverKings got on the board first, but Huntsville tallied four goals in the final 40 minutes to take Game 2 and force a decisive Game 3 with a 4-2 win on Friday night.

It looked as though the teams would head to the locker rooms scoreless until the RiverKings struck late. Todd Hosmer lifted the puck over Jesse Kallechy with 24 seconds left in the first from Leo Tomas to put the RiverKings ahead 1-0.

In the second, Huntsville took over. While outshooting the RiverKings 15-10, the Havoc struck twice. While on a four-on-three power play, Rob Florentino's shot from the point ricocheted off a pair of RiverKings and past Dan McWhinney to tie the game at one 9:31 into the second. Then, with time waning in the second, Dominic Osman's wrist shot over McWhinney gave Huntsville the lead going into the third.

But the RiverKings responded. Leo Thomas deflected a Matt Whitehead pass past Kallechy 7:20 into the period to tie the game at two.

Huntsville came back late in the third for two goals in three minutes. Stuart Stefan's slap shot through traffic beat McWhinney before Nick Lazorko's insurance marker on a rebound in front of the RiverKings' netminder put the game out of reach as Huntsville forced Game 3 with a 4-2 win on Friday night.

Dan McWhinney (1-1-0) took the loss after stopping 35 of 39 shots against. Jesse Kallechy (1-0-0) stopped 28 of 30 shots in the win.

The RiverKings and Havoc play Game 3 on Sunday evening in Huntsville at 5:00 p.m. Be sure to catch all the action at Old Style Bar-B-Q in Olive Branch, Miss., the Official Away Game Watch Party Headquarters of the RiverKings.
