Lewis and Patterson Return to Revs

(York, Pa.): The York Revolution have brought back left-handed reliever Rommie Lewis and infielder/outfielder Eric Patterson, while adding infielder/outfielder Tim Torres to the 2014 preseason roster. The latest batch of signings was officially announced today by manager Mark Mason, bringing York's preseason total to 22 players under contract with spring training workouts just over two weeks away.

Lewis has been one of the Atlantic League's top late-inning relievers the past two seasons. With the Revs in 2013, the 6'6 lefty posted a miniscule 1.51 ERA in 47 appearances, and allowed just one earned run in 31.0 innings from June 12-on. Lewis also earned five saves with York, before signing with the Lamigo Monkeys of Chinese Professional Baseball (Taiwan). Lewis continued his campaign in the Dominican Winter League where he made 20 appearances for Tigres del Licey.

A fourth round draft choice of the Baltimore Orioles in 2001, Lewis spent seven seasons in the Orioles farm system, and posted a career-high 25 saves with Delmarva in 2002. He reached the Major Leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays, appearing in 14 contests in 2010 and six more in 2011. Lewis was an All-Star reliever in the Atlantic League with Bridgeport in 2012, going 3-1 with seven saves and a 2.01 ERA in 48 appearances.

Patterson spent the first half of last season with York before earning a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers at midseason. Used primarily as a leadoff hitter with the Revs, the versatile Major League veteran started at second base, shortstop, left field, and right field defensively. At the plate, Patterson batted .275 with 13 home runs, and tied a club record by going deep in four consecutive games in early June. He added 38 RBI in 62 games played, and started at shortstop for the Freedom Division in the Atlantic League All-Star Game.

The 30-year-old has spent parts of five years in the Majors from 2007-11, appearing in 226 big league games with the Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, and San Diego Padres. He is the younger brother of MLB veteran outfielder Corey Patterson.

Torres brings even more versatility to the Revs, having played every infield and outfield position during his eight-year pro career. Originally drafted by the Houston Astros in 2006, the switch-hitter has spent time in the Astros, Marlins, Rockies, and Cubs organizations, reaching the Triple-A level for parts of three seasons. The Berkeley, CA native split last season at Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa with the Cubs, and is a career .255 hitter with a .350 on-base percentage, 49 home runs, and 111 stolen bases.

The 2014 season begins on April 24 when the Revs host the Camden Riversharks at Santander Stadium.
