Chicago Sky News Release

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky today announced the acquisition of free agent Jessica Breland. The Minnesota Lynx selected Breland, a physical power forward, with the 13th overall pick in the 2011 WNBA draft. She comes to Chicago following a breakout season with the Indiana Fever.

"I am honored and excited to be a part of the Chicago Sky," said forward Jessica Breland. "I have always had a high level of respect for Coach Chatman and feel very blessed to have the opportunity to play for her and join this great team. The Sky is the limit!"

The 6-foot-3 Breland, plays an aggressive style of basketball that extends her presence beyond her physical size. She enters the 2014 season ranked No. 3 in the WNBA in Blocks Per 40 Minutes (2.8).

"I especially like Jessica's ability to run the floor and play our pace in transition," said Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman. "Her length and athleticism, specifically around the rim, will add a presence that is sure to pay big dividends."

Breland owns career averages of 4.1 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game and is coming off her most productive season in the league. In 2013, with the Fever, she averaged 5.3 ppg and 4.0 rpg. Breland delivered a career-high 17-point performance on August 1 at Connecticut. The dynamic power forward boasted a 7.17 player efficiency rating on the year.

Breland will look to pick up where she left off last season and help the Sky in pursuit of the franchise's first WNBA title.
