Hidalgo, TX March 26, 2014 - The Iowa Energy defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 145-111 on Wednesday night.

The first quarter between the two Central division rivals was tightly contested. The Energy took a 33-32 lead after a Patrick Christopher layup and never gave up the lead the rest of the game.

The Energy were led by Moses Ehambe in the second quarter, scoring 14 of his 19 points in the quarter. Ehambe shot 5-6 from behind the arc and help give Iowa the 74-64 lead at the half.

The third quarter was all Energy, as they outscored the Vipers 44-21 on their way to a 118-85 lead heading into the final quarter, where they went on to win 145-111. The Energy improve to 27-17 on the year and Rio Grande Valley falls to 29-17.

The Vipers were led by Houston Rockets assignee Robert Covington, who finished the night with 23 points. Darius Morris added 18 points. Troy Daniels ended the night with 14 points.

The Energy had 8 players in double figures, led by Washington Wizards assignee Glen Rice Jr.'s 25 points. Patrick Christopher had 20 points. Othyus Jeffers had another double-double, finishing with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Curtis Stinson finished the night 1 rebound shy of a triple-double with 14 points, 12 assists, and 9 rebounds.

The Energy will battle the Toros tomorrow night in Austin before returning to Wells Fargo Arena for their final five games of the regular season. The Canton Charge will come to town on Saturday, March 29th at 7 PM. The Hoops for a Cure game will feature special pink jerseys worn by the team and auctioned off to benefit Mercy Cancer Center patients. The first 1,500 fans will receive pink thunderstix and the game will also feature $2 beer starting at 6 PM.
