Mammoth Looks to Corral Wings on 'Western Night'

Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Fresh off its second and final bye-week of the regular season, the Colorado Mammoth welcomes the Philadelphia Wings to HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center for 'Western Night' this Sat., Mar. 29 at 7pm MT. With the playoffs looming and the teams jockeying for postseason berths, the outcome of this game could determine the fortunes of both squads.
"It is hard not to look at the standings and realize how important a win could be and how much a loss can hurt," said Mammoth coach Pat Coyle. "As coaches, that's not really what we want to focus on. As much as we are aware of what is at stake, we really need to not think about that. We are playing every game to win."
Historically, the match-up has been a good one. Six of the past seven meetings between the Mammoth and Wings have been decided by a single goal.
With so much at stake, Colorado hopes to receive a much-needed boost from forward Adam Jones, who returns to the line-up after an eight-week hiatus due to injuries.
"The kid (Adam Jones) is a tremendous talent, and we have a powerful group that really enjoys playing with each other," said Mammoth forward Drew Westervelt. "It's about how quick we can go and get the group back together."
For Westervelt, this game also represents the first time he'll face his former team. The 28-year-old forward was drafted by the Wings in 2007 and posted four 30-goal seasons in Philadelphia. The Maryland native was traded to the Mammoth this past offseason.
"We've got five games left in the season, and the team is getting healthy," said Mammoth captain John Grant Jr. "Everyone's fired up, and now we have an urgency to push for the end of the season and make a run at this thing."
Tickets to the game are on sale now at the Pepsi Center Box Office, all Altitude Tickets outlets, online at AltitudeTickets.com, or by phone at 866.461.6556.
