March 26, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sudbury Wolves News Release

The Sudbury Wolves fell to the Barrie Colts on Tuesday night by a finals score of 6-4. The Colts have taken a 3-0 series lead in the best of 7 series.

The Wolves came out with energy early in the first period and took an early lead as NICK BAPTISTE blasted one through from the high slot. AARON EKBLAD was sent to the penalty box for interference, however it had little advantage for the Wolves as JAKE DOTCHIN sniped a shorthanded goal past PALAZZESE to tie the game at 1.

The Colts took the lead 2-1 when ANDREW MANGIAPANE scored on the power play while NICK BAPTISTE was in the penalty box forholding. JEFF CORBETT was assessed a 2 minute minor for high sticking which sent the Wolves back to the dressing room on the penalty kill.

Sudbury killed off the remainder of CORBETT's penalty to start the second frame, however could not stop EKBLAD's shot on a pass from ANDREAS ATHANASIOU that made it 3-1. The shot came on the power play for a double high sticking infraction made by BRODY SILK 2:22 into the second.

The Wolves showed some signs of urgency with some aggressive play cutting the Colts lead to one with a power play goal from SILK at 9:49 in the second. The score remained 3-2 heading into the second intermission.

The Colts came out of the dressing room in the third with a head of steam. MANGIAPANE worked quickly putting another goal past PALAZZESE 33 seconds into the third period to put the Colts up 4-2.

A holding penalty on MICHAEL WEBSTER gave the Wolves a man advantage which they capitalized on. RADEK FAKSA deposited the Wolves third goal, cutting the lead back to one.

Despite some excellent chances the Wolves could not close the gap any further. Barrie forward BRENDAN LEMIEUX gave the Colts their two goal lead back with five minutes to play.

With the goalie pulled and a power play opportunity the Wolves had a two man advantage. CONNOR CRISP buried his first of the series with just under a minute to play to make it 5-4.

The stifling defense of the Barrie Colts was too much for the Wolves. Before time ran out, LEMIEUX was able to connect with the open net in the dying seconds of the game.

The Wolves will hit the ice again on Thursday to stave off elimination at 7:00 at the Sudbury Arena. Be one of the first 1000 fans at the game to receive a Bell "bell". Great seats are still available at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling 705-671-3000 or online at www.greatersudbury.ca.
