CIFL Names Players of the Week for Week 7 & 8

March 26, 2014 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release


The Continental Indoor Football League would like to announce the Player's of the Week for weeks 7 and 8 of the CIFL season.

Week 7

Offensive Player of the Week is the Cincinnati, OH native and running back of the Erie Explosion, Richard Stokes.  Stokes led the Explosion offense and set a new CIFL Record by scoring 10 touchdowns in their win over the Bluegrass Warhorses (85-12).  Richard carried the ball 29 times tallying 267 yards for the game.   He played his college ball at Mercyhurst College.

Defensive Player of the Week is from the Northern Kentucky River Monsters, defensive back Dekota Marshall.  Marshall hails from Jacksonville, NC and attended East Carolina University.  He had 2 INTs and 3 tackles in the River Monster's loss to the Dayton Sharks. 

Special Teams Player of the Week is also from the River Monster's, kicker Dustin Zink shined as he was a perfect 6 of 6 on extra points.  Dustin hails from Highland Heights, KY and attended Thomas More University.

Week 8

Offensive Player of the Week is a Pittsburgh, PA native and quarterback of the Erie Explosion Aaron Smetanka.  Smetanka led the Erie offense by passing for 6 touchdowns in their win over the Port Huron Patriots (65-30).  He was 21 of 24 for 200 yards on the day.

Defensive Player of the Week is from the Chicago Biltz, defensive lineman DeAndre Mosley.  DeAndre had 4 tackles for loss and 2 sacks in the Blitz's win over Dayton (48-32). He also caused a fumble and applied pressure to the Sharks quarterback on several plays. DeAndre hails from Chicago, IL.
