Hitmen Fall to Ice, Series Now Tied

Cranbrook, BC - Jaedon Descheneau broke a 4-4 third period tie with under a minute remaining as the Kootenay Ice edged the Calgary Hitmen 5-4 Tuesday evening at Western Financial Place.
For the first time in the WHL Eastern Conference quarter-final, Kootenay opened the scoring with goals from Luke Philp and Sam Reinhart, before Jake Virtanen responded with a goal for Calgary. The two clubs continued to exchange tallies throughout the remainder of the first period and into the middle frame, with Ben Thomas, Greg Chase and Pavel Padakin adding singles for the Hitmen, while Zach Franko and Levi Cable contributed for the home team.
Chris Driedger turned aside 27 of 32 shots he faced in the setback.
The best-of-seven series, now tied 2-2, returns to Calgary and Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 5 on Thursday, Mar. 27 at 7:00 p.m. Playoff packages are available by calling 403-777-4646 or visiting www.hitmenhockey.com for more details.
