BayHawks to Honor Coach McDonald

March 24, 2014 - NBA G League (G League)
Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Monday, March 24 - The Erie BayHawks will play their home finale on Saturday at 7 pm against the Delaware 87ers. As part of the evening's festivities, the BayHawks will honor Assistant Coach Ben McDonald for his six years of service. McDonald will coach his final game in Erie on Saturday night before returning to his home in California to explore other career opportunities.

A pre-game recognition ceremony will be held honoring Coach McDonald and his family and will feature tributes from current and former staff and players.

McDonald joined the BayHawks prior to their inaugural season and has been the sole member of the team's basketball operations staff to be part of every franchise game to date.

He will end this season with 307 BayHawks games coached, including three playoff appearances. Prior to joining the BayHawks, McDonald spent time coaching at the University of California, Dominguez Hills (1996-97) and Indiana University (2001-04). Originally a third round pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers (50th overall) in 1984, McDonald played 176 games in the NBA before enjoying a successful playing career in Europe.

The BayHawks return to action Friday night in Delaware before hosting the 87ers in the second night of a back-to-back on Saturday night.
