Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

AMARILLO, Texas - Sam Piazza scored his 11th goal of the season, and David Zevnik made 27 saves, but the Wichita Falls Wildcats (30-22-4) fell to the Amarillo Bulls, 3-1, at the Amarillo Civic Center on Friday night. Todd Koritzinsky and Colin Staub had assists in the contest for the Wildcats, who outshot Amarillo 36-30 in the contest.

The game had barely begun before the teams traded goals, with the Bulls finding the net first. Brady Ferguson knocked a fluttering puck out of mid- air, skated in all alone and beat Zevnik through the five-hole to make it 1-0.

The Wildcats responded less than 90 seconds later however. After clearing the puck, Piazza joined the rush for the Wichita Falls, and was the first to reach the loose puck behind the Amarillo net. Collin Delia then moved from left to right across the crease to play the centering feed, allowing Piazza to step out in front and tuck the puck home at an unguarded left post.

After a scoreless second period, the Bulls increased the pressure in the early stages of the third, and took the lead at the 10:33 mark when Patrick Pollock blasted a one-timer from the blue.

Wichita Falls hunted for an effort, throwing plenty of rubber at Delia, but Amarillo would tack on another tally late, with Tyler Gernhofer finishing off a three-on-one break to make it 3-1.

The Wildcats and Bulls will face off against on Saturday, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the Amarillo Civic Center. Video coverage of the game will be available on FASTHockey.com, with an audio-only broadcast accessible via UStream.com.
