CHICAGO - Cleveland Gladiators quarterback Chris Dieker has been voted AFL MVP for Week 1 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season.
Dieker (6-5, 235, Southern Illinois) accounted for nine touchdowns in Cleveland's 63-53 victory over the Pittsburgh Power in Week 1. The third-year pro completed 24-of-36 passes for 251 yards and five touchdowns through the air and added another 29 yards and four scores on the ground in the win.
Fans had 24 hours to vote for the AFL MVP award on ArenaFootball.com. Other candidates included Orlando Predators quarterback Jason Boltus and Spokane Shock quarterback Erik Meyer.
