Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS (March 19th) - Alumni Weekend welcomes back some of the greats that have come through the Air Capital. This Saturday, fans will get another chance to enjoy some of those memories with the annual Wichita Thunder Alumni Game taking place at 5:15 p.m. against the Wichita Junior Thunder at INTRUST Bank Arena. Today, the Thunder announced the roster for the alumni team which has plenty of familiar faces and a few new ones added to the mix.

Returning to Wichita for his first Alumni game will be Jack Williams, who was a member of both Thunder championship squads in 1993-94 and 1994-95. Williams played three seasons in Wichita, amassing 51 goals and 130 points from the blue line and racked up 207 penalty minutes in 163 games. He will be joined by Jim Latos, who also played for both Thunder championship teams and was a former Thunder head coach. Latos played 118 career games for Wichita, collecting 394 penalty minutes and 89 points (32g, 57a) during his two seasons as a player. Latos will be behind the bench for the Alumni squad during the contest. Joe Blaznek and Ryan McLean come back for another run as both appeared in last year's Alumni game. Tom Roulson, who played in the NHL and was traded for current Thunder Head Coach Kevin McClelland, will also be a part of the festivities. Roulston played 69 games for the Wichita Wind during the 1980-81 season and finished his career for the Thunder during the 1994-95 year. He still makes his home in the Wichita area.

The Junior Thunder will have local flavor added to its roster as all three of the McClelland brothers will be a part of the roster. Jack McClelland, who played this past season for Head Coach Rob Weingartner, will play alongside his twin brothers Matt and Max. He scored 15 goals and tallied 11 fighting majors (189 PIM) in junior hockey. Joining them will be Alex Smith, Jake Larson, Trevor Mitchell, Ian Riley, Doug Roesch and Philip Molton. Another interesting part to the friendly contest will be the Junior Thunder Coaching staff going up against their own players as Kevin St. Pierre, Sean O'Reilly and Weingartner will play for the Alumni squad.

Wichita continues its road trip tonight against the Allen Americans at 7:05 p.m. The Thunder returns to INTRUST Bank Arena on March 22nd to host Tulsa for the final regular season meeting between the two teams at 7:05 p.m., which is also Youth Jersey Night. The Alumni will be hosting a Watch Party for Friday night's game while the team is playing at Tulsa. Head over to Pucks Sports Bar located at the Wichita Ice Center starting at 7:30 p.m.
