Kamloops Blazers News Release

Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers announced this morning that they have signed 1997-born prospect Spencer Bast to a standard WHL education contract.

Bast has played the past two seasons with the Battlefords Stars of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. The 5'11" and 170lb forward finished second in SMHL scoring with 31 goals, 37 assists and 68 points in 44 games this season.

"Spencer is a relentless, hard-working player that continues to get better and better," commented Director of Player Personnel, Matt Recchi. "He has had a great season and we believe he will push some of our returning players for a roster spot next season."

Bast was listed by the Blazers shortly after the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. He has attended the Blazers last two training camps.

The Macklin, SK native was a member of Team West at the 2014 U-17 World Challenge in Nova Scotia in January.

Bast is currently leading the SMHL playoff scoring race with seven goals and 15 points in only six games. He has led his team to the SMHL final where the Stars will play the Regina Pat Canadians.
