March 13, 2014 - American Association (AA)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Seasoned American Association broadcaster Steve Schuster has been named the new radio broadcaster for the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

"We are extremely pleased to find someone of Steve's calibre, experience and knowledge of the American Association to be the new Voice of the Winnipeg Goldeyes," Goldeyes general manager Andrew Collier said. "Replacing someone of Paul Edmonds' status is difficult, but Steve is going to be a big asset to the organization. We owe it to our fans to have one of the best broadcasters in independent professional baseball. Steve certainly fits that requirement. I am convinced our fans will enjoy his call on Goldeyes radio broadcasts for years to come."

Schuster had been the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the American Association's Wichita Wingnuts for the past six seasons. During his time in Wichita, Schuster also was the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League from 2007-2011.

"I am truly honoured for this great opportunity and can't thank Goldeyes owner Mr. Katz and Andrew Collier enough for their professionalism and support throughout the process," Schuster said. "I have always had a tremendous amount of respect for the Goldeyes' organization, and look forward to meeting all of our fans and becoming an active member of the community!"

Schuster started in broadcasting in 2003 at WCBN 88.3 FM, which is the University of Michigan student-run radio station. Following graduation from the University of Michigan, he got his start in the American Association with the Lincoln Saltdogs as their Broadcast and Media Relation Intern during the 2007 season. He also holds an MBA from Newman University in Wichita.

Schuster will officially begin his duties with the baseball team on Monday, March 17 and host the second edition of the Inside Pitch on The Jewel 101 (100.7 FM) on Thursday, March 20 from 7-9 p.m.

Schuster replaces Paul Edmonds as the Goldeyes' broadcaster. Edmonds left the organization in January after 19 seasons. Like Edmonds, Schuster will be an account executive with the team during the off-season.

All Goldeyes pre-season, regular season and playoff games during the 2014 season will be broadcast by Schuster on The Jewel 101 (100.7 FM).

Season ticket and nine-game mini pack information for the 2014 season is available by calling the Goldeyes office at 204-982-2273 or visiting Goldeyes.com.
