The Bloomington Edge travel to Nebraska for their second Champions Professional Indoor Football League game of the season in a match-up of squads looking for their first win.
The Edge (0-1) visit the Lincoln Haymakers (0-2) in a 7:05 p.m. Friday kick-off at the Pershing Center. The game can be viewed via subscription on America One through www.cpifl.org.
The Edge dropped their 56-20 opener last Friday to the host Salina Bombers by giving up 26 third-quarter points after trailing 17-14 at halftime. Edge quarterback Charles Dowdell was 17-of-28 passing for 166 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. Andre Raymond led the Edge running attack with 32 yards on eight carries with two touchdowns. LaVaughn Macon caught six passes for 46 yards while Marcus Lewis and Raymond each caught four passes for 47 and 27 yards respectively. Eric Tapley led the Edge defense with seven tackles.
The Haymakers have only scored a combined 27 points in their two losses, a home decision to the defending champion Wichita Wild 62-10 on February 28 and a 68-17 defeat at Sioux City last Saturday. Time at quarterback has been split between Travis Hunter (11-36, 52 yards, 2 interceptions) and Lorenzo Dennard (9-18, 86 yards). Shane Scott leads Haymakers receivers with seven catches for 53 yards. Travis Ribbing is the leading rusher with 14 carries for 22 yards and one touchdown, and is also the second-leading receiver with six catches for 35 yards. The Haymakers have only scored three touchdowns, all on the ground, by Ribbing, Dennard and former Edge player Antonio Ficklin.
Following Friday's game at Lincoln, the Edge take a bye week before hosting the Omaha Beef in the U.S. Cellular Coliseum opener on Saturday, March 29 at 7:05 p.m. Season tickets are still available as are group discounts by calling 309-434-2980.
