Norfolk Admirals News Release
Washington, D.C. -- Norfolk Admirals' center forward Antoine Laganiere and Yale's 2013 Men's Hockey National Championship team met President Barack Obama yesterday at the White House. The President hosted several collegiate national championship teams for a meet-and-greet as well as a post-photo session reception on the South Lawn of the White House.
Yale cruised to a 4-0 upset win over top-seeded Quinnipiac in the final of the Frozen Four after losing to the Bobcats three times earlier that season. The nation's oldest collegiate hockey program won their first national title at the age of 117 last April, punching their ticket to meet the President on Monday.
Laganiere and the rest of the team also met and talked hockey with Yale Alum and current Secretary of State John Kerry before the President arrived. The team took pictures with Kerry and toured the East Wing leading up to their meeting with President Obama.
The Admirals begin their three-game divisional road trip Friday at Binghamton before moving south to play Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Saturday and Hershey on Sunday. The following week, Norfolk begins a five-game homestand with Charlotte on Wednesday and a pair of weekend contests with Binghamton March 21 and March 22.
Game tickets are now on sale, and are available through the Norfolk Scope Box Office, all Ticketmaster Outlets, charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com .
