Pirates Face-Off with Falcons

Lewiston, ME - The Portland Pirates return to Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Sunday afternoon to face the Northeast Division leading Springfield Falcons. Puck drops at 4 PM. The Pirates are 1-1-0-2 against Springfield this season, with one more matchup on the schedule.

The Pirates traveled to Worcester last night, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Sharks. Worcester jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Pirates were able to close the gap twice. Daine Todd and Jordan Martinook scored for the Pirates, while Louis Domingue made 34 saves in the defeat. The loss snapped a two game point streak for the Pirates.

Springfield faced the Adirondack Phantoms last night, winning a 5-3 decision. Springfield never trailed, with Ryan Craig and Denny Urban scoring in the first and Paul Thompson and Cody Bass (2) adding goals in the second and third. Mike McKenna made 26 saves in the victory.

The Pirates were victorious in their last matchup with the Falcons, defeating them in a shootout on January 26th in Springfield 4-3. Andy Miele scored for the Pirates, with former Pirate Chris Brown adding two goals, and Tobias Rieder and Miele scored in the shootout to give the Pirates the win. Mark Visentin made 37 saves to earn the win for Portland.

Leaders: The Pirates' Key to the Game is twofold - first, Portland must take an early lead so they don't have to battle from behind and second, the Pirates' leaders must make sure that Portland plays a disciplined game and take fewer penalties.

This afternoon is the Andy Miele Bobblehead Giveaway, presented by Moody's Collision Centers. The first 1,000 fans will receive an Andy Miele bobblehead! Anthem will also host a Radio Disney Dance Party for kids prior to the game in the Baxter Lounge starting at 3 PM.
