Koekkoek out for Season & Playoffs
March 7, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release
General Manager Warren Rychel has announced defenceman Slater Koekkoek will miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs, after suffering a shoulder injury in last night's game versus Saginaw.
Koekkoek, 20, underwent an MRI this morning in Michigan that revealed a right shoulder dislocation.
"After consulting with team doctor Roy Diklich, Tampa Bay Lightning General Manager Steve Yzerman and their team doctors, all parties have agreed that the best course of action right now is for him to have surgery," said General Manager Warren Rychel.
"This is obviously a huge loss for us. Slater has been playing big minutes for us this season and was a team leader. Slater is a warrior. This is a freak accident," Rychel continued.
