Former Big-League Hurler Bisenius Returning to Lincoln

LINCOLN -- The Saltdogs signed former big league right-hander and 2013 Haymarket Park strikeout machine Joe Bisenius Friday.

Bisenius, who has had MLB stints with the Phillies (2007) and Nationals (2010), led the American Association in strikeouts for Lincoln last season before being picked up by the Atlanta Braves.

The 6-foot-4 hurler went 3-2 with a 3.89 ERA in six starts for the Saltdogs in 2013, fanning 43 batters in 37 innings - including 29 over his final three starts.

An Omaha resident, Bisenius has pitched professionally for 10 seasons, and was originally selected by the Phillies in the 2004 MLB draft out of Oklahoma City University.

The 31-year old went 3-8 in 14 games between Triple-A and Double-A in the Braves organization after being purchased from the 'Dogs last June.
