Saginaw Spirit Educate Students on How to Win a Game of Hockey

The Saginaw Spirit welcomed the Sarnia Sting to The Dow Event Center Tuesday, March 4th for Education Day playing in front of a sold out crowd of 5,527. The Spirit took the win with a 5-2 score against the Sting.
The two teams battled for momentum in the opening period of play with the visitors striking first on the score board. The Spirit received the first penalty leading to the Stings first goal at 11:43 off the stick of Brandon Lindberg from Anthony DeAngelo and Vladislav Kodola. The remainder of the period was goalless .
The Spirit started the second period with two goals just a minute apart at 6:43 and 7:43. The first goal found the net on an effort by Eric Locke from Jesse Graham and Brandon Prophet. The next was buried by Dylan Sadowy from Jesse Graham and Justin Kea. At 17:29 the Sting capitalized on a powerplay finding the net on a goal scored by Jimmy McDowell from Nikolay Goldobin and Anthony DeAngelo to tie the game .
The Spirit began the third period scoring when Luke Cairns bounced the puck in and out of the net at 5:31 from Kristoff Kontos and Brandon Prophet. The Spirit continued their offensive play scoring two power play goals in under a minute at 12:54 and 13:35 to seal the victory. The first goal was scored by Cody Payne from Justin Sefton and Jesse Graham, the second scored by Cody Payne from Jesse Graham and Kristoff Kontos.
