Portland Pirates News Release
Lewiston, ME - The Portland Pirates dropped their fourth straight game, falling 4-3 to the Hartford Wolf Pack Tuesday night. Lucas Lessio, Andy Miele and Rostislav Klesla scored for the Pirates while Louis Domingue made 22 saves in the defeat. The Wolf Pack used four straight goals and strong play in net from Dov Grumet-Morris to comeback from a 3-0 first period deficit to win the game.
The Pirates began the game on the hunt, scoring three times in the opening stanza. Lessio put Portland on the board first at 8:50 when David Rundblad spotted Lessio near the Hartford blue line and threaded a perfect pass that led Lessio into the zone. Once past the defense, Lessio undressed David LeNeveu with a beautiful backhand-forehand move to make it 1-0. At 12:25, Andy Miele made it 2-0 with his 55th career goal, tying him with Derek Whitmore for 15th all-time in Pirates history. Tobias Rieder was able to keep the puck in the offensive zone, spin and throw the puck to Miele who calmly turned and feathered a shot top-shelf over LeNeveu. Then, at 18:01, Rostislav Klesla scored to make it 3-0 Pirates with a slap shot from just inside the zone.
In the second, Hartford began to claw their way back in the game, first with Conor Allen scoring at 5:45 on the power play, followed by Andrew Yogan at 9:32 who beat Domingue from the slot.
In the third, the Wolf Pack completed their comeback with another pair of goals. First Darroll Powe scored at 12:42 to bring the team's even and then Jesper Fast was able to deflect a pass over Domingue's pads at 16:30 to give Hartford the 4-3 lead.
The Pirates fought to tie the game back up, but Grumet-Morris stood strong, turning aside all 15 shots he saw in relief of LeNeveu.
