Brampton A's Fall to Windsor Express

February 25, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release

Windsor, ON. The Brampton A's fall to Windsor 107-87. The A's record goes to 23-13. The Windsor Express improve to 28-9.

The Brampton A's visited the Windsor Express at the WFCU Centre, for a battle for first place. It was sure to be a hard fought game, as the A's defeated the Express, and derailed their record setting winning streak in Windsor less than a week prior. Going into the game, the season series was split 4-4.

It turned out to be an off shooting night for the A's, as they couldn't get their shots to fall. Brampton has the number one offense in the NBLC, but only mustered 87 points, on 37% field goal shooting. The A's had many unforced turnovers, and were out of sync for the first three quarters, as they tallied an uncharacteristically low point total. However, the A's did show off their leagues best three point shooting, with 11 three pointers made in the game. Brampton also dominated the boards, adding to their league leading rebounding totals, with 58 total rebounds, and an incredible 20 offensive rebounds. Brampton finished strong, winning the final quarter 31-27.

Brampton had four players in double digits, led by A's shooting guard Cedric Moodie with 13 points.

Moodie is top 10 in the NBL in scoring, free throw percentage, three pointers, rebounds, steals, and scoring. Brampton forward Kevin Francis led the team in rebounding with 11 rebounds. Francis is top 15 in the league in offensive rebounding. The NBLC's #1 shot blocker Cavell Johnson, chipped in with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Scottie Haralson, coming off his birthday game had 12 points, including four 3- pointers. Haralson is top five in the NBL in 3-point makes and percentages. A's number one draft choice, Brent Jennings had 10 points.

Game Notes: The A's are still without starting forward Jameson Tipping, who is on the Injured Reserve List (foot), and Centre Steve Idlet. A's Swingman Jordan Hamilton was placed on the IR and guard Ryan Martin was activated.

The A's next home games are back-to-back Monday, February 24th, at 7:00pm against the Island Storm at the Powerade Centre, and February 25th, at 7:30pm at the Athlete Institute in Orangeville.
