Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings exacted a little revenge against Patrik Bartosak and the Red Deer Rebels.

Less than a week after Bartosak made 50 saves en route to a 3-2 Red Deer win at Rexall Place, the Oil Kings (42-14-1-1) turned the tables, downing the Rebels (28-29-1-3) 4-1 Wednesday night in Red Deer and clinching a playoff spot for the fourth year in a row.

The Oil Kings again peppered the Rebels net, outshooting the home side 54-15, but this time around managed to get a couple more pucks past the reigning CHL goaltender of the year.

"We got some rebounds and some bounces," said Oil Kings head coach Derek Laxdal. "I don't think we played any differently than we did Friday; we just got a few more past him, and that was the difference."

Overall the game was a physical affair, with four fights, including three in the first eight minutes as Mitch Moroz and Wyatt Johnson dropped the gloves right off the opening faceoff.

"We played a real solid road game. Red Deer came out physical right off the hop, and I thought we responded physically," Laxdal said. "That's a typical Red Deer team, playing physical in their building trying to protect their home ice."

Curtis Lazar, Edgars Kulda, Brandon Ralph and Henrik Samuelsson all scored for the Oil Kings, who moved to 2-1-1-0 this season against the Rebels.

Tristan Jarry made 14 saves for his WHL-leading 37th win of the season, allowing just one goal to Red Deer's Adam Musil. Though he didn't face a lot of work, Jarry was forced to come up with some difficult stops, including facing two breakaways from Rhyse Dieno in the first half of the game.

"When Tristan had to make the big save, he was there," Laxdal said.

Dysin Mayo picked up an assist to extend his point streak to five games, while Cody Corbett recorded an assist, giving him 54 points on the year, one shy of tying Martin Gernat's franchise record for points by a defenceman.

Bartosak made 45 saves on 49 shots before being replaced late in the game by Taz Burman, who stopped all five shots he faced.

Edmonton remains tied with Calgary, who also won Wednesday, with 86 points atop the Eastern Conference. The Oil Kings hold the tiebreaker by virtue of two more wins and have a better winning percentage thanks to three games in hand.

The Oil Kings are back in action Friday night at Rexall Place when they host the Swift Current Broncos.
