Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON, February 13th, 2014)- The Peterborough Petes and Original Pond Gear are excited to announce that Eric Cornel is the recipient of the Original Pond Gear Player of the Month Award for the month of January. He has been presented with an OPG prize package in reward for his excellent play.
Through twelve games in January, Cornel recorded seven goals and eleven assists for eighteen points along with six penalty minutes to go along with a plus/minus rating of plus-seven. This combined with Cornel's off- and on-ice work ethic and leadership make him the clear choice for the first OPG Player of the Month Award.
Cornel, who is eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft on June 27th and 28th, was also selected by NHL teams as one of only forty CHL players to play in the BMO NHL/CHL Top Prospects Game in Calgary on January 15th.
Original Pond Gear (OPG) is a Canadian sports apparel company that aims to offer affordable yet fashionable hoodies, hats, and t-shirts that are inspired by the classic sport of pond hockey. Fans can purchase OPG apparel in the Petes Store at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
