Morning Skate: Thursday Night Clash with Petes

Belleville Bulls News Release

PETERBOROUGH, ON -  The Bulls head to Peterborough tonight following Wednesday's 4-3 home ice overtime loss to the Ottawa 67's. Though the Bulls typically have their hands full on Peterborough's uniquely shaped surface, a 5-4 win on January 9th was a nice change of pace as Jake Marchment's three points pushed the Bulls to victory.

The Bulls visit a Petes club that is getting a shot in the arm with players returning from suspensions tonight. Both Clark Seymour and Jonatan Tanus slot back into the Peterbrough lineup to aid the Petes in their march to the postseason.

Playing to a record of 24-24-0-5, Peterborough sits sixth in the Eastern Conference with 53 points, four behind fifth placed Barrie. They've lost their last two games, the first a 7-6 shootout loss in Kingston followed by a 4-0 shutout defeat in Oshawa.

Recent Peterborough acquisition Hunter Garlent has paid early dividends with his new club. Garlent has 8 goals and 13 assists in his first 13 games with the Petes to go with a +13 rating. He joins draft eligible power forward Nick Ritchie on the Peterborough attack.

The Bulls will face old teammate Jason Da Silva in the Peterborough crease tonight as Petes overaged starting goaltender Andrew D'Agostini serves the final game of a three game suspension. In what would be an intriguing goaltending matchup, Michael Giugovaz is expected to get the start in goal for Belleville tonight. The two goaltenders were traded for one another back on January 9th.

Bulls forward Remi Elie enters action on a four game point streak while teammate Stephen Harper has put forth dominant performances on both Wednesday and Saturday. Adam Laishram returned to the Belleville lineup on Wednesday and had a strong outing of his own.

The Bulls remain without Jake Marchment (upper body, week-to-week). Centremen Harper, Laishram and Niki Petti will be picking up the slack in his absence.

The Bulls' final visit to Peterborough this season is slated for a 7:05pm puck drop tonight. Fans can tune into Jack Miller's call on AM 800 CJBQ at 6:50 for pregame coverage. The game will also be covered on the Bulls' Twitter feed (@OHLBulls).
