Ohio Machine News Release

COLUMBUS, OHIO (February 6, 2014) - Ohio Machine attackmen Marcus Holman and Steele Stanwick were named to the 30-man US Lacrosse Men's National Team roster, US Lacrosse announced Tuesday. For both Holman and Stanwick, this marks their first times being named to the National Team roster.

The reigning world champion US Men's National Team will compete for a record 10th world title at the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships, hosted by US Lacrosse on July 10-19, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Additionally, the Men's National Team will square off against a team of Major League Lacrosse players in the 2014 MLL All-Star game on June 26 in Boston.

"The Ohio Machine is very proud of Marcus and Steele and their accomplishment of making the 30-man roster cut," said Machine Head Coach Bear Davis. "Marcus and Steele have great passion for the game and invest a lot of time in developing their craft. I believe both players bring a youthful excitement to the Team USA roster."

Holman is entering his second year with the Machine after a decorated collegiate career at the University of North Carolina. In 2013, Holman led the Machine in 2-point goals (2) and finished second on the team in assists (11). Holman played in 10 games during his rookie campaign and finished with 20 points, one of just four Machine Players to reach the 20 point mark. Holman was selected by the Machine with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 MLL Collegiate Draft after finishing his career at UNC as the school's all-time leading scorer with 213 points.

"It's an absolute honor to be named to the 30-man roster for Team USA," Holman said. "Competing at the International level was only something I dreamed about as a kid and it's very exciting to be moving forward, especially with my Machine teammate Steele Stanwick."

Entering his third season with the Machine, Stanwick is the franchise's career leader in points (60) and assists (37). In both 2012 and 2013, Stanwick led the team in assists. This past season, Stanwick finished second on the team in points (32) and fourth in goals (12). Stanwick was drafted by the Machine with the second overall selection in the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft after finishing his college career at Virginia as the Cavaliers all-time leading scorer with 269 points.

"It has always been a dream of mine to have an opportunity to play for Team USA," Stanwick said. "This is a huge honor for me and I am very humbled. I'm very excited to take the next step in the process. Congrats to everyone that has been a part of the process along with me."

The US Lacrosse Men's National Team roster announcement comes on the heels of a seven-month tryout that included 98 players. The final team will compete at the 2014 FIL World Championship, July 10-19 in Denver.

"I can't say enough good things about all of the guys who have been a part of this process," said Team USA Head Coach Richie Meade in a statement. "Both the guys who are continuing on and the ones who aren't have been incredible on and off the field since we started working on this process a year and a half ago. You could make a good case for each of them to be on this list, but we are really excited about the group we've put together. We're ready to move from the evaluation phase into the preparation phase as we look ahead to Denver.

Season tickets for the Machine's 2014 season are now on sale and range from General Admission at $92 to a Field Level Box at $2,400 and include seven regular season home games plus a 2014 MLL playoff game. Information on 2014 season tickets can be found at www.theohiomachine.com/season-tickets.
