Miracles Basketball Prostate Cancer Awareness Night on February 6th

February 3, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Moncton Miracles News Release

The Moncton Miracles Organization has designated their upcoming game on Thursday, February 6th as Prostate Cancer Awareness Night. Miracles Basketball will be raising funds throughout the evening in support of Prostate Cancer awareness and research. Prostate Cancer makes up 25% of all new diagnosed cancer cases in Canada, and is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Canadian men. According to statistics provided through the Prostate Cancer Canada webpage, 23 600 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year in Canada, and 3900 will die from the disease.

In professional sports, there is often a great focus on raising funds for many important causes. However, prostate cancer is often overlooked and there is a sense of it being a topic which causes discomfort and is rarely openly discussed. Miracles Basketball looks forward to making this game an opportunity to raise awareness and provide the opportunity for open dialogue about a disease which affects so many Canadian men and their families. The match-up versus The Island Storm will be focused on "Blowing the Whistle on Cancer." There will be raffle with various items available, and exclusive limited-time edition Miracles Basketball Prostate Cancer Awareness hats for sale. With the support of the Community and all Miracles Fans, the Moncton Miracles looks forward to raising funds for an important cause while continuing to provide exceptional quality entertainment and basketball.

Following Prostate Cancer Awareness night, the next Miracles Home Game will be on Saturday, February 8th at 7PM vs. The Halifax Rainmen. The teams will be matched-up again on February 17th for the Miracles Basketball Rock & Roll Night, and again on February 24th for the rescheduled game to make-up for the cancelled January 29th match.
