Brampton's A Game Keeps Mississauga Powerless

Brampton, ON. The Brampton A's defeated the Mississauga Power 129-96. The A's record goes to 20-9, Mississauga falls to 8-24.

It was billed as the Battle of Peel but Mississauga was Powerless against the Brampton's A game. The Brampton A's are undefeated against the struggling Power, with a 6-0 record.

The A's high powered league leading offense was on full display at the Powerade Centre. The A's defense was also on display as they were up 40-19 after the first quarter. The A's were even more stingy the second quarter as they held the Power to 41% shooting and won the quarter 30-18. The A's shot 50% from the field and increased their league lead in three point attempts with 14 at a 42% clip. The A's also increased their league leading rebound total with 59.

Brampton had an incredible nine players in double digits, led by A's centre Cavell Johnson's 20. Point guard Melvin Council had 19, with a blistering five three pointers. A's forward Flenard Whitfield and shooting guard Cedric Moodie had double doubles with 18 pts, 12 rebs and 12pts, 11 rebs respectively.

Francis, Jesse Tipping, Zabas, Haralson and Jennings all chipped in double figure points, in what was a true team win.

The A's next home game, at the Powerade Centre is Friday, February 7th, at 7:00pm against the Saint John Mill Rats.
