Sundogs Make Comeback in 4-3 Overtime Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs made a comeback in a 4-3 overtime win against the Denver Cutthroats Saturday night, remaining undefeated in regulation since the start of the new year.

The Sundogs struck first when Garrett Clarke tallied a goal 16:50 into the period from Ian Schultz and Johan Ryd . Arizona gave up their lead during the second period after the Cutthroats registered two back-to-back power play goals. Bryan Cameron served a too many men bench minor and 57 seconds later Jason Morgan went off for goalie interference, providing Denver with a 1:03, 5-on-3 man advantage. Jean-Philipp Cabot scored the Cutthroats first goal, 13:13 into the second period and less than a minute later Daniel Barczuk followed it up with their second power play goal allowing them to take the lead after 40 minutes of play.

Garett Bembridge furthered Denver's lead after he found the net when the puck bounced off the pads of Arizona goaltender, Andrew Engelage extending the Cutthroats lead by two goals 6:19 into the third period. With just over five minutes left, the Sundogs came from behind to equalize the game when Paul Mcilveen scored on the power play after Daniel Amesbury was accessed two minutes for slashing. Justin Pender and Mark Isherwood each picked up an assist. And with 3:09 remaining in regulation Matt McCready lit the lamp and tied up the game sending the game into overtime where Jordan Clendenning registered the game winner. McCready and Trebish each skated away with two points in the game.

Engelage was awarded the win, his 15 win of the season blocking 36 shots. Arizona was outshot 39-38 and was 1-6 on the power play, while Denver was 2-5. The Sundogs return home for a six game home stand when they kick it off against the Rapid City Rush. All the action begins on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Tim's Toyota Center, in their first ever Kids Day Game at 10:00am in front of a sold out crowd.
