Mayor, Nashville Sounds to Host Groundbreaking

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Mayor Karl Dean and the Nashville Sounds will host a groundbreaking for the city's new minor league ballpark at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27 at the future ballpark site at Sulphur Dell. A Family Fun Festival will follow from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The Family Fun Festival will include free refreshments and baseball-themed activities for kids. It will also include a special appearance by Major League Baseball player Albert Pujols.
The ballpark is expected to be completed in time for the 2015 season. The city's investment in a new ballpark returns baseball to its historic home in Sulphur Dell and will spur further redevelopment of the Jefferson Street area
