Miracles Fall to London

January 13, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Moncton Miracles News Release

Another tight game with a Central Division team, another loss.

The Miracles dropped their second straight with a 99-91 loss to the defending champion London Lightning.

The Lightning ran out to a quick lead in the first quarter, leading by 10 after the frame. As they so often do, the Miracles wouldn't let the game slip from their grasp, winning the second quarter 27-20 to go into halftime down 3.

The second half was a battle. With four lead changes, and the Miracles tying the game nine different times, it was an exciting game to watch.

The Lightning pulled away at the end of the fourth quarter putting the home team away with free throws in the last minute.

The Miracles had their second straight dismal shooting performance, shooting 37% from the field and 22% from 3 points range.

Marvin Phillips paced the Lighting with 23 points and 9 rebounds while the Miracles were lead by Johnny Mayhane and Stanley Robinson who scored 23 and 18 respectively.

Winning the battle on the glass 57-55 and going to the charity stripe 10 more times enabled the Miracles to hang in the game, but in the end it was too little, too late.
