Matchup:

Orlando begins a four game road trip tonight as they play the first of back-to-back games against the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Solar Bears come into the contest after earning points in four straight games as they closed out a six-game home stand. Orlando won their last outing in dramatic fashion, a thrilling 4-3 overtime win over the Utah Grizzlies. D Paul Baier and F Mickey Lang put the Solar Bears up 2-0 heading into the first intermission, but the Grizzlies added two of their own in the second to tie the game at 2-2 going into the third frame. F Jacob Cepis potted a wrister early in the frame to restore the Solar Bears lead, only to see Utah come right back with the game-tying goal before the halfway point of the period. The 3-3 score continued late into overtime before F Mike Ullrich won a faceoff to Cepis who one-timed a shot into the back of the net for his second of the game to lift the Solar Bears to the victory. The Gladiators have been hot of late, winning six of their last eight games. In their last three contests, the Gladiators have gone 3-0-0 while outscoring their opponents by a 16-2 margin. First, Gwinnett defeated the South Carolina Stingrays 4-0 on January 3rd, they then followed it up with 8-1 drubbing of the Florida Everblades on January 4th, and finished it off with a hard-fought 2-1 over the Stingrays this past Tuesday. The Solar Bears and Gladiators last met on December 15 in Gwinnett, with Orlando taking a 5-2 victory. The Solar Bears are 3-0-0-1 against Gwinnett this season.
