San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Bulls (12-17-4-1) lost a close one to the Alaska Aces (19-9-1-1), 3-2, Thursday night, at the Cow Palace. Steven Tarasuk cut it to a 3-2 deficit in the third period, but the Bulls failed to find the equalizer against Olivier Roy.
The Aces jumped out to a 1-0 lead. James Martin wristed a shot past Beskorowany. The goal came at 8:03 of the first. Tommy Mele and Evan Trupp had assists. Late in the first the Bulls tied the game. Dean Ouellet scored on a feed from Dale Mitchell with 3:09 left in the period. Brett Findlay also registered an assist on the play. Through 20 minutes, the two sides were locked in a 1-1 tie. Alaska out-shot San Francisco, 11-7.
After keeping the high-pressure Aces attack at bay for most of the second period, they finally struck twice in the waning minutes. Dustin Molle and Mathew Sisca each had a tally, with 4:58 and 2:17 remaining respectively. Trupp, Ross Ring-Jarvi, and Brad Richard had helpers. At the end of two periods, Alaska led, 3-1.
At 4:37 in the third, San Francisco reduced the deficit to one. Steven Tarasuk scored a goal after a crazy bounce. Riley Brace was given the lone helper. Late in the period the Bulls killed a long 5-on-3 power play opportunity for Alaska, but couldn't capitalize on the built momentum. They had some chances late but Olivier Roy stood tall, securing the win.
Tomorrow these two squads are back in action for game two of their three-in-three weekend series. San Francisco will be celebrating their second annual Scout Night.
