Mistakes Doom Miracles
January 9, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) - Moncton Miracles News Release
Old, bad habits die hard.
The Miracles had a couple key turnovers and a key missed free throw down the stretch as the Windsor Express brought their six game winning streak to an end, 93-91.
After being down by a handful for most of the fourth quarter, the Miracles' Stanley Robinson had a monster reverse put-back jam to cut the deficit to four and give the home team some momentum. The Miracles rode that momentum with a tough three pointer by Johnny Mayhane and a clutch bucket by Trayvon Lathan to gain the lead.
Fast forward about 30 seconds. A couple of possessions and a missed Robinson free throw The Miracles are up one with the ball and 1:03 on the clock. The Express' Darren Duncan stripped Lathan and was able to score an uncontested lay-up for the lead. The Miracles got a chance to tie the game on a Sylvania Watkins runner as time expired, but it rimmed out.
The Home team was lead by Mayhane's 17 points and 9 rebounds and by Lathan's 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Miracles demolished the Express on the boards, winning the rebounding battle 60-39. The Express just outshot the home team, 46% to the Miracles' 39%.
The Miracles have a chance to redeem themselves at home on Sunday when the 2-time defending champion London Lightning come to town for their only visit this season.
