Flores and La Fiera Hold off Sidekicks

HIDALGO, Texas - Edgar Flores scored four goals to pace Hidalgo La Fiera in the victory over the Dallas Sidekicks by a final score of 12-9 at State Farm Arena on Sunday evening. Flores would reach to seven goals in the season.
The win for La Fiera (7-1) also means that they advance to the U.S. Open Cup where they will await the winner of the Texas Strikers and Austin F.C.
La Fiera got the scoring started in the first quarter, that featured five goals and it was Robson De Souza that made it 1-0.
Dallas Sidekicks (6-2) would respond with a shorthanded unassisted goal by Cody Ellis that tied the game at one.
Hidalgo regained the lead with a power play goal by Mark Ughy that made it 2-1 which was assisted by Flores.
Dallas would then tie the game once again on Paolo Da Silva goal which made it a two all game and Hidalgo would gain control of the game.
La Fiera added three goals to close out the first half to make it a 5-2 game at the break which was highlighted by Edgar Flores unassisted goal.
Dallas scored a shorthanded goal by Cody Ellis assisted by Nestor Hernandez that made it 5-3. Both teams would trade six goals until the Sidekicks made their run to trim the deficit to one when Jaime Lovegrove slotted home a Da Silva pass to make it 8-7 in the fourth quarter. Flores would score his second goal in the midst of trading goals.
Hidalgo would restore their lead when De Souza, a Flores brace, the second which was an empty net goal, and Carlos Farias made it 12-8 to end the scoring for La Fiera.
Dallas added a late goal from Patrick Shamu which was assisted by Frank Mbemba which finalized the scoring at 12-9.
Hidalgo La Fiera will start a three game road trip which will start against the Texas Strikers, and head into Mexico to take on Saltillo and Monterrey.
The next game for Hidalgo La Fiera is on Sunday, January 18th when they host the Monterrey Flash at State Farm Arena with the kickoff set for 5:05 pm.
