NJ Natives Leiter and Prosinski Added to Phillies Winter Banquet

LAKEWOOD, NJ - New Jersey natives and 2013 BlueClaws pitchers Mark Leiter Jr. and Jon Prosinski have been added to the lineup for the Phillies Winter Banquet in Lakewood on Wednesday, January 22nd. Both were drafted this year by the Phillies.

Tickets for the event, which takes place at Woodlake Country Club, are $40 and all proceeds will benefit BlueClaws Charities and their Community Partners. To reserve a spot, please call JoAnne Bell at 732-901-7000 ext 100. The doors will open at 6 pm and the festivities begin at 7 pm.

Mark Leiter Jr was drafted by the Phillies in the 22nd round out of NJIT after playing for Toms River High School North. He made three starts with the BlueClaws at the end of the season, throwing 16 scoreless innings with 20 strikeouts with a 2-0 record. He went 4-0 with a 1.26 ERA combined with the GCL Phillies, Lakewood, and Clearwater.

His father, Mark Sr., played 11 years in the major leagues, including two with the Phillies, while his uncle, Al, played 19 years in the major leagues. Both went to Central Regional High School in Bayville.

Jon Prosinski was a 7th round pick of the Phillies from Seton Hall University. The Skillman, New Jersey native pitched for Montgomery High School. This year, he went 3-3 with a 3.45 ERA between Williamsport and Lakewood, including 2-2 with a 3.13 ERA over eight starts with the BlueClaws.

The Banquet will also include Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg, pitcher Jonathan Pettibone, and outfielder Darin Ruf. Both Pettibone and Ruf were 2010 BlueClaws. Sandberg, Pettibone, and Ruf were previously announced guests.

BlueClaws Charities, the official non-profit foundation of the Lakewood BlueClaws, works with over 40 area 501c3 organizations through their Community Partners Program. These organizations raise money through the BlueClaws and benefit through events such as this one, "Bowling With the BlueClaws," or the "BlueClaws Charities Nine and Dine Golf Outing," plus jersey auctions and other fundraisers throughout the year.
