Akron, OH -- December 17, 2014 - Akron Racers GM, Joey Arrietta announced today that the Racers will conduct an open tryout for the 2014 squad on Saturday, January 18, 2014, from 9a - 4 pm at Salpointe High School in Tucson, AZ.
"I'm grateful to Coach Mike Candrea and Stacy Redondo for their support with the scheduling of this open tryout in Tucson," noted Arrietta. "This idea was launched a couple of months ago and I am thrilled with the opportunity it will provide potential players and ultimately the Racers."
Tryouts are open to females, ages 21 and over. Prospective players must complete the enclosed registration form and finalize a $60 credit card payment. Completed forms can be faxed to 330.376.8348 or mailed to the Akron Racers, 1575 Firestone Parkway, Akron, OH 44301.
Registration forms and payment must be received no later than January 12, 2014.
Participants will be required to bring their own equipment, including a bat, mitt, helmet, cleats, sliding pad and batting gloves. "We will be looking for five specific tools of the game from players (hit for average, hit for power, speed, defensive ability, and arm strength)," explained Arrietta.
