December 11, 2013 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) News Release

BOSTON (Dec. 11, 2013) - Along with the supplemental draft today (click here to see draft results), some teams were busy making trades. The New York Lizards, Ohio Machine and Chesapeake Bayhawks executed a pair of trades that ultimately saw All-Star defender Kyle Hartzell head to New York for the 2014 season. The Lizards also sent Attackman Matt Gibson to the Denver Outlaws in exchange for midfielder Justin Turri.

As part of the Hartzell trade, the Lizards acquired midfielder Kevin Cooper and faceoff specialist Matt Dolente from the Chesapeake Bayhawks in exchange for the second and 28 th selections in the supplemental draft. New York then flipped the two players and the No. 13 pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft to Ohio for Hartzell.

Hartzell, a six-year veteran of the league, will be playing for his fourth MLL team. The Baltimore, Md., native won a title with Chesapeake in 2010 and was named to the All-Pro Team in 2012. His nine 2-point goals in 2012 were second in the league, trailing only Chesapeake's Kyle Dixon.

Cooper and Dolente, who are headed to Ohio with the 13 th pick in the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft, both finished the year with the 2013 MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks last season. Cooper scored three goals in two games of his first professional season, while faceoff specialist Dolente appeared in seven games.

Initially acquired by Chesapeake in 2012 Gibson will be playing in his third season with the league. In 2012, the attackman played in 12 regular season games, scored 18 goals and recorded 15 assists on his way to being named Cascade Rookie of the Year. Last season he only appeared in six games recording four goals and five assists.

Turri is also entering his third season in the MLL and will be playing for his third team. In 2012, his debut season, he appeared in eight games for the Charlotte Hounds scoring four goals and adding five assists. In 2013 he appeared in all 14 regular season games for the Outlaws, recording nine goals and four assists.
